Project Update – Old Saw Works, Glasgow

Surrounded by modern architecture, Old Saw Works remains an important part of Glasgow’s industrial heritage, and we’re proud to be helping secure its future.

Our team is currently carrying out stabilisation and reinstatement works, carefully dismantling and rebuilding failed sections of the courtyard elevation. Existing brickwork is being salvaged and reused wherever possible, while window openings are being documented and numbered to ensure the rebuilt façade closely reflects the original construction.

The project combines traditional brickwork, timber windows, slate roofing, and exposed timber and steel structures. As works progress, close collaboration between our site team, the architect, and the structural engineer is helping preserve as much of the building’s original character as possible.

Robert Andreucci, Site Manager, said:

“What makes Old Saw Works unique is that we’re not simply refurbishing a building. We’re working with its existing structure and history, carefully retaining as much of the original fabric as possible while making it safe and fit for its next chapter.”

Chris Coleman-Smith, Director at Thomas Robinson Architects, added:

“Stabilisation and reinstatement work is progressing well at William Cook and Sons, Old Saw Works. It’s a privilege to be involved in the conservation and repair of a building that forms part of Glasgow’s industrial heritage and provides an important connection between the city’s past and future.”
