This week we’d like to share a care home project that we completed for our client H&H Care Homes.
BBP was the Principal Contractor for the external fabric repairs and refurbishment of the Westerfield Care Home, a 62-bed home in Paisley, providing premium nursing care, including specialist dementia care. We carefully aligned our refurbishment plan with the client’s improvement strategies.
Initially contracted for roof repairs and external blockwork remediation, further extensive works were identified once on-site, prompting additional internal and external renovations. We addressed internal water damage, redecorated hallways, bedrooms, and shared spaces, upgraded flooring, replaced lights, conducted localised rewiring, and installed new, secure windows.
Our team adapted swiftly to these expanding demands, reallocating resources, adjusting our project plan, and increasing our workforce to maintain high standards. Challenges included winter weather and complex scaffolding, which we overcame with meticulous planning.
The original condition posed significant health and safety risks. Our interventions included additional cavity barriers, new steel angles, wall ties to secure the blockwork and new windows for enhanced security and energy efficiency.
Despite the challenges, the project was completed successfully, resulting in a safer, more comfortable environment for the residents. The Westerfield Care Home remediation project highlights our capability to manage complex, sensitive projects in live environments. Our focus on health and safety, resident engagement, and high standards of construction ensured the successful completion of the project.
