Managing Quantity Surveyor – Manchester

Job description

We are seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team. The role will be full-time on a permanent contract, in a fast-paced environment, based at our Manchester office. Reporting to the Commercial Manager and Commercial Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the Quantity Surveying team.

Duties include

  • Lead the quantity surveying team, ensuring high performance and providing mentorship.
  • Review subcontractor quotations, place orders, and prepare pre-commencement plans.
  • Submit monthly interim valuations, conduct site measurements, and manage payment processes.
  • Prepare cost reports, handle contractual correspondence, and submit final accounts.
  • Understand construction contracts, attend meetings, and interact with clients and design teams.
  • Develop strategies for project profitability, ensure compliance with policies, support business development, and manage project risks and opportunities.

Requirements and skills

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying with significant main contracting experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong commercial awareness, leadership, and team management skills.
  • Positive attitude, excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • High professional standards, honesty, and a proven track record in managing multiple projects successfully.
